Peri Peri Charcoal Chicken, Manila

I have been living in Manila for almost 2 years now and this was the first time I even heard of this restaurant. But believe me when I say I totally regret not exploring SM Annex more!
Peri Peri Charcoal Chicken, located in the upper floors of SM Annex, is said to be famous for it’s Portugese style chicken. Not having eaten anything Portugese before, I really couldn’t tell. But I know it was one of the best chicken I’ve ever had.
I dunno whether this is obvious in my previous reviews, but one of the best things about food for me is texture. Food must not only taste good, it should feel good in your mouth too.

Peri Peri’s chicken is exactly that: smooth, smokey and I swear, it’s so soft that even without chewing, it’ll slide down your throat nice and easy. And as if it’s not tastey enough with it’s smokeyness, gravy is available riiiiggghhtttt next to the rice.
I ordered a Combo C which included 1 extra side dish of your choice to go with the chicken (which was Mild Spicy, by the way, cause I wanted extra flavors). The side dishes ranged from Coleslaw salad, Tortilla wraps, to soup and more! I had the coleslaw, though I’m not really sure if I regret having it (since the mayonnaise was so rich I was feeling sort of nauseated after I finished eating everything).

Now I bet you’re thinking a chicken that good is probably served in small portions. Well, I thought that too. Only to be proved that Peri Peri Charcoal Chicken had generous servings! And that is not an understatement! I was so full I could hardly breathe by the time I was done with everything.
OK. About the price… I’m sorry to say that I forgot. Or it was more like, I didn’t really care what the price was. The chicken was worth it!
So if you’re ever craving chicken, or if you’re ever in SM North Edsa, drop by the SM Annex and look for this restaurant! I totally recommend it!
:D,
Bea
